Welcome Fellow Quilters,
The warm weather this winter has not put me in to much of a quilting mood. I like
a lot of falling snow when I look out the window while I am quilting, but this winter
has me looking out on a brown lawn. There have been a few days of some snow, but
there have been a lot of warm sunny days. My main quilting project that I have been
working on, is, a wedding quilt for my niece who is getting married in June. I have
the quilt done and basted together and have done a little hand quilting on it. Have
not much time to work on it, because there have been a lot of medical problems in
my family, and I have spent a lot of time in December and January at several hospitals
and taking my Mother to lots of doctor’s appointments. Things have slowed down a
bit and hopefully will get back to a more normal pace.
I have also worked on a couple
of quilts for my local quilt guild, who are making and donating quilts to the Ronald
McDonald Houses in Kansas with the help from the Nickerson High School quilting
students, in which they decided to make the RMH their 2012 community service project.
I also have been taking a couple of classes on how to use up some of my stash. I
have cut up a lot of scrap pieces into usable shapes and have emptied one box of
scraps and have made several tops. Time has gone by so fast and it hard to believe
it is almost the middle of February. Soon it will be summertime and time for Us
to visit the Wonderful City of Hays in June. Will be glad to see all of my KQO quilting
friends.
President Beth Coldwater
Welcome to the Kansas Quilters Organization Website.
KQO was established more than
25 years ago to further the art of quilting within the state and to bring quilters
together to share their knowledge. Our membership includes hundreds of quilters
from around the state of Kansas and a number of members from other surrounding states.
We meet twice a year for two days, attending workshops, lectures, trunk shows, and
other assorted activities. Every other year we offer a fellowship as well. Our instructors
and lecturers can include local talent from surrounding areas, guests brought in
from around the Midwest based on recommendations and requests and of course our
own immensely talented KQO members. If you would like to be a member of KQO, go
to forms at the left, print out the membership form and mail to our treasurer, along
with a check for dues. We would love to have you join us.
Quilters make the best
of friends because we are tied together by the threads of our lives.
